How I Read Tarot (And How I’m Going To Teach You Too)

How I Read Tarot (And How I’m Going To Teach You Too)

One of the biggest questions I get asked is, “How do you remember all 78 cards?” The answer? I don’t.

Well… not in the way most people think anyway.

Of course I know the traditional meanings, but when I’m doing a reading, I’m not sat there flicking through a guidebook in my head trying to remember what each card means. I read the energy first. I look at how the cards speak to each other. I notice what catches my eye, what I feel, and what Spirit is trying to bring through.

That’s why you’ll hear me say all the time that tarot isn’t about memorising meanings. It’s about understanding the language of the cards.

The same card can come out in ten different readings and have ten completely different messages because every person is different, every situation is different, and every reading carries its own energy.

One thing I really want you to stop worrying about is “bad” cards. Honestly, they don’t exist. I know people panic when they see Death, The Tower or The Devil, but I actually get excited because those cards usually have some of the biggest messages. Death isn’t usually about someone dying. It’s about endings, transformation and new beginnings. The Tower isn’t there to ruin your life, it’s there to clear away what’s no longer serving you. The Devil often shines a light on the habits, fears or beliefs that are keeping you stuck. Every single card has something to teach us.

My goal isn’t to make you read tarot exactly like I do. If anything, I want the opposite. I want to help you build enough confidence that you start reading in your own way. I’ll absolutely teach you the traditional meanings because they’re important, but I’ll also teach you how to trust your intuition, connect the cards together, recognise patterns and stop doubting yourself every five minutes.

This may take a few months but we’ll be going through everything together. We’ll look at every card in the deck, different spreads, how to read for yourself, how to read for other people, and all the little tips I’ve picked up over the years that I wish someone had told me when I first started.

Most importantly, I want this to be a space where you feel comfortable learning. No judgement. No gatekeeping. No such thing as a silly question. Just real, down-to-earth tarot that actually makes sense.

If there’s one thing I want you to take away from this first blog, it’s that you don’t need to be psychic to read tarot. You don’t need to memorise every single meaning before you shuffle your cards. You just need to be open, stay curious and trust yourself a little more than you think you can.

So grab your favourite deck, make yourself a cuppa, and let’s learn tarot together. I genuinely can’t wait to be part of your journey.
